Whole Wheat Penne with Bacon and Peas


Bring a pot of well salted water to a rolling boil. While the water comes to a boil, fry bacon, drain and set aside.

Prepare cream sauce:
Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a sauce pan.
Whisk in 2 tablespoons of flour, continue whisking to allow flour to cook.
Whisk in half and half until smooth and somewhat thin, continue whisking until sauce thickens, thin with half and half to desired consistency. Salt and pepper to taste.

Once water is boiling, add pasta and stir. Allow pasta to cook for 5 minutes, test for pasta to be al dente ( some-what firm but not uncooked).

Drain pasta, stir into cream sauce and add peas and bacon. Dust with parmesan cheese and garnish with chopped parsley.
